![]() The Grabber UHP was designed to emphasize traction, handling and control in dry and wet conditions. There was a slight advantage of these over the Coopers in longevity, so I went with these. The Grabber UHP is General Tire's Street/Sport Truck Summer tire developed for the drivers of high performance pickups, sport activity and sport utility vehicles. It came down to these and the Cooper ATs. I really like these tires! I used the comparison chart at to make my decision on their track testing of several tires. But the snow and ice traction are like night and day to the stock tires! I can get by in 2wd for some snow if I wanted to, and my muddy driveway is nothing for these! I can't wait for spring to see how well they tow and hopefully reduce some sway. As well as some cornering, which I expected going from a highway tire to an All Terrain anyway. So many opinions out there! You just have to take a little of everything and then it comes down to all around performance and safety! I did sacrifice some cushioning of the ride which I'm fine with, its a truck. It took me a bit of research in selecting these, then some more research getting the tire pressure right. They were also squishy for towing my 6k lb camper as well in the summer even pumping them up to max! So, I went with a stock sized LT285/65-R18 Bridgestone AT Revo. Mine are half worn at 25,000 miles.Decided to end my relationship with the stock "weenie" Goodyear Fortitudes after sliding around through several New England snow storms this year in full 4wd! I even tried several bags of sand in the back and it made it worse to steer! And really squishy sway problems towing! They still had some meat on them, about 23k mi used, but I was just through with them and I believe every 4wd deserves ATs or MTs. If you are a farmer or one of those idiots who drive in mud pits for the sake of it, get something else. This 20 is running Factory Reproductions FR70 22x10 wheels, Grabber UHP Grabber UHP 305/45 tires with McGaughys Level 2' Drop Rear suspension, and needs No trimming and has Slight rub at full turn. I've not had them in snow yet, but all ive heard from people I know running them.īeacuse I have the cash im going to buy some beefy winter tyres for the hell of it, but if you drive a Defender, you should be running with the Grabber TR tyre in the summer it is great and a full 5 mpg better than a mud tyre on the road - that is important in a Landrover! They can handle any gradient of rock or gravel (an have had them on the gradient limit on wet rock, just as well if not better than the BF Goodrich Mud Terrain / and better than the Goodrich All Terrain TA), but forget it in mud - they are not a mud tyre. This directional, all-season, performance tire features an extended tread life, quiet ride, and second-generation silica tire compound. ![]() They do look good but they are fantastic road tyres, they transform this chunky clunky vehicle into a nice motorway car, noise is lower than any defender tyre, but the really surprising thing is these things are really good offroad. Given the fact that they were cheaper than the original equipment Wrangler HP and have proven to be subjectively better with reasonable wear whe the time comes I'll buy another set of four. Im about some new 22 Boss 304 wheels for my truck and need some new tires to go with them. All-Season Performance Touring Passenger Light Truck, Crossover and SUV tire. Which I guess makes it perfect for Ireland which snow/proper winters seems fairly rare. General GRABBER UHP 305/45R22 (15478020000). Unfortunately apart from some frost/ice (which they performed admirably) I haven't had the snow to test the Generals and give a proper opinion. Which was supremely confidence inspiring. In the wet there hasn't even been a shimmy from the car. ![]() In the dry the Grabbers were definitely superior with more feel as well as seemingly shorter braking distances, thus lending themselves to more spirited driving. Subjectively the Grabbers seem to offer a little more feedback at the wheel,though they have a softer ride (maybe softer sidewalls). Those tyres weren't bad getting me through a very bad winter 2009/1010 but I decided to buy the grabbers after reading online reviews. Bought these to replace the stock "Goodyear Wrangler HP Allweathers". ![]()
